This medication is used for skin fungal infections such as athlete's foot, tinea cruris, and tinea corporis caused by various dermatophytes including Trichophyton, Microsporum, and Epidermophyton. It is also effective for treating tinea versicolor caused by Pityrosporum orbiculare. It is applicable for cutaneous candidiasis and helps improve fungal infections. This drug is widely used for treating skin conditions caused by various fungi.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Apply to the affected area 1 to 2 times daily. The treatment duration varies by condition: 1. Athlete's foot: Once daily for 1 week. Interdigital (between toes) athlete's foot: Twice daily for 1 week. Plantar athlete's foot: Twice daily for 2 weeks. 2. Tinea corporis, tinea cruris: 1 to 2 weeks. 3. Cutaneous candidiasis: 1 to 2 weeks. 4. Tinea versicolor: 2 weeks. If clinical symptoms do not improve after the treatment duration, re-evaluation is needed.

Precautions

This medication may not be safe for certain individuals. Specifically, those who are allergic to this drug or any of its components, or who have experienced hypersensitivity should avoid using it. It is advisable for pregnant women, those who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers to refrain from using this medication. It is also not recommended for children. If skin rash or allergic reactions occur during use, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician or pharmacist. If there is severe irritation, itching, redness, hives, skin peeling, or formation of scabs on sore areas, consult a professional immediately. While using this medication, it is important not to use occlusive dressings or wrapping techniques without the physician's instructions. If symptoms do not improve despite using this medication, testing should be conducted to check for infections due to other causes, and alternative treatments should be sought if necessary. It is advisable to avoid using acidic soaps in the presence of Candida infections. Though this drug has low systemic absorption when applied to intact skin, caution should be taken in cases of wounds, large skin areas, or especially in infants where systemic effects may occur. If this medication is accidentally ingested, activated charcoal should be used to remove the active ingredient, and symptomatic treatment should be provided as necessary. This medication is intended for topical use only, and care must be taken to avoid contact with the eyes. If it gets into the eyes, it should be washed out immediately with plenty of water, as there is a risk of eye irritation or worsening infection. It is not advisable to apply it to nails, scalp, around the mouth, or vaginal areas. Animal studies have reported that this medication may cause slight phototoxicity (skin damage from light), so caution is advised during sun exposure.
