This medication helps improve gastrointestinal dysfunction symptoms such as gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea, and vomiting caused by inflammation and ulcers of the stomach and duodenum. It also alleviates abdominal discomfort associated with irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon. In children, it is effective in treating habitual vomiting and non-infectious intestinal passage obstruction including constipation and diarrhea. It is widely used for various gastrointestinal symptoms and conditions to enhance the quality of life of patients.

How to take

Adult dose

As Trimebutine Maleate, take 100-200 mg orally three times a day before meals. Dosage may be adjusted appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose and should not be used by patients with genetic lactose intolerance issues, such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Usage may rarely lead to gastrointestinal symptoms such as constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, dry mouth, and oral numbness. Additionally, rare neurological symptoms may occur such as rapid heartbeat, fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headache. Liver enzyme levels may temporarily rise, so caution is advised regarding liver function. Skin rashes may occur due to allergic reactions; if such symptoms arise, the medication should be discontinued. The safety of this medication during pregnancy is not assured, so women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use it only if the benefits outweigh the risks. Lactating women should also avoid this medication as its safety has not been established; if it must be used, it is advisable to discontinue breastfeeding.
