Treatment of anterior segment infections and inflammation caused by sensitive bacteria.
Gentamicin is used for anterior segment infections caused by sensitive bacteria, such as bacterial conjunctivitis. It is also used for preventative treatment in cases of anterior segment inflammation where there is a risk of bacterial infection, for example, after eye surgery. This medication helps effectively treat and prevent bacterial infections, protecting eye health.
For bacterial infections, adjust according to the severity of the infection, instill 1 drop into the conjunctival sac of the infected eye 5 times a day. In severe cases, the dosage may be increased to 1 drop every hour for 1-2 days. Post-operative treatment involves instilling 1 drop into the conjunctival sac of the operated eye 4 times a day for one week, thereafter reducing the frequency is advisable.
This medication is an eye drop containing two ingredients, Gentamicin and Fluorometholone, used for treating eye inflammation and infections. This medication should not be used by individuals allergic to Gentamicin, Fluorometholone, or the preservative benzalkonium chloride. Patients with corneal damage or ulcers, viral infections, fungal infections, ocular tuberculosis, or glaucoma should also refrain from using this medication. Upon administration, there may be a temporary sensation of warmth in the eye, and rarely, allergic reactions like itching, redness, or sensitivity to light may occur. The phosphate component in this medication may rarely cause calcium deposits in the cornea in patients with severe corneal damage, so caution is advised. Fluorometholone has fewer side effects than other steroids, but prolonged use may lead to abnormally high intraocular pressure, so regular intraocular pressure checks are necessary. In addition, long-term use of steroids may cause cataracts behind the lens of the eye and may delay healing after surgery. There is a risk of secondary fungal infections or bacterial infections with resistance if used for more than 2 weeks; therefore, it is advisable not to continue use beyond this period. Caution is needed as high doses of Gentamicin may delay the healing of the corneal epithelium, and if symptoms do not improve after 7–8 days of use, alternative treatments should be considered. When using with other eye medications, instill them with at least a 5-minute interval to prevent them from washing away. Co-administration with certain antibiotics may cause deposits in the eye. Additionally, the risk of systemic side effects may increase when combining with certain medications, so follow your doctor's instructions. Pregnant or nursing women should only use this medication if the benefits are assessed to outweigh the risks to the fetus or infant. In case of overdose, it is advisable to rinse the eyes with saline or clean water. When using this medication, avoid wearing contact lenses for 5 minutes before and after instillation, and do not wear them for several days if there is an infection. Shake the bottle well before use, use it only for eye treatment, and be careful not to let the tip of the container touch the eye directly. It is also advisable not to share it with others to prevent contamination. Store this medication out of reach of children, in a cool and dry place between 15 to 25 degrees Celsius, avoiding direct sunlight. Do not use it one month after opening, and do not transfer the medication to another container.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication may be sensitive to air or moisture, so it must be stored in a tightly sealed container. It is recommended to keep the storage temperature between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. This helps to maintain the medication's efficacy and safety for a longer period.
