Precautions

This medication is a quinolone antibiotic, used to treat certain bacterial infections. It should not be used in patients who have had an allergic reaction to this medication or other quinolone drugs. If severe allergic symptoms occur during use, such as hypotension, loss of consciousness, swelling of the face or neck, difficulty breathing, hives, or itching, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Symptoms such as itching, dizziness, and ear pain may occur in cases of ear infection, so caution is advised. While using this medication, side effects such as taste disturbances, headache, nausea, vomiting, rash, dizziness, tinnitus, and fever may occur. There is also a risk of hearing loss or additional infections due to microbial imbalance, so inform a healthcare professional if symptoms arise. To prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria, it is essential to confirm the sensitivity of the infecting bacteria and use it only for the minimum required duration. Usually, it is recommended to administer for 4 weeks, and any further administration should be decided cautiously. Long-term use may lead to fungal infections or resistance; if symptoms worsen or new infections develop, discontinue use and consider alternative treatments. If discharge from the ear continues after treatment or recurs within 6 months, treatment may be required to remove underlying causes such as cholesteatoma, foreign bodies, or tumors. Quinolone medications, including this one, can cause severe allergic reactions even with a single dose, so if allergic symptoms like rash appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a specialist. For patients with otitis media limited to the middle ear mucosa, local treatment with this drop solution is performed, but if inflammation spreads to a broader area, oral medication should also be considered. Pregnant women should use this medication only when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks, and nursing mothers should either stop breastfeeding or discontinue the medication while on treatment. It is advisable not to use this medication in infants under 1 year of age since safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established. This medication should only be used in drop form, and if the temperature of the liquid is too low, dizziness may occur upon use, so it is best to use it at a temperature close to body temperature. Oral administration has been reported to cause joint abnormalities in young animals in experimental studies, so oral administration is not recommended.
