This medication is used for the treatment of herpes simplex virus infections, particularly initial and recurrent genital herpes and cold sores.

How to apply

Adult use

This medication should be applied to the affected area 5 times a day at approximately 4-hour intervals. Treatment should be continued for 5 days and may be extended for an additional 5 days if not healed after the initial 5 days of use.

Precautions

This drug should not be used by those who are allergic or hypersensitive to any of its ingredients. Additionally, it is advisable to discontinue breastfeeding while using this medication. The safety and efficacy of this drug in children have not been sufficiently established, so it should be avoided in this population. Caution should be exercised in patients with weakened immune systems, such as individuals with AIDS or those who have received a bone marrow transplant. When applying this medication, if there are ulcers present in the genital area, pain or discomfort may occur. Temporary burning sensations, mild pain, dermatitis, rashes, and itching may occur, so caution is advised. Treatment should be started as soon as symptoms appear, and the prescribed dosage and administration should be strictly followed. Use for the purpose of symptom-free prevention is not recommended.
