This medication is used for painful muscle spasms due to musculoskeletal disorders, such as shoulder-hand syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder, and low back pain. It is also effective in the treatment of spastic paralysis caused by neurological disorders, improving muscle stiffness arising from various causes, including cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal paralysis, and spinal cord injuries. This medication helps alleviate muscle stiffness due to postoperative sequelae or trauma. It is utilized for the recovery of muscle function in patients with neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It is used to effectively treat muscle stiffness and pain resulting from complex neurological and musculoskeletal disorders, improving the quality of life for patients.

How to take

Adult dose

As eperisone hydrochloride, administer 50㎎ orally three times a day after meals. The dose may be adjusted appropriately according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or to those with severe myasthenia gravis. Caution is advised for patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any drugs or with impaired liver function, and for those who have allergic reactions to Yellow No. 4 (tartrazine) included in this medication. During administration, shock reactions may rarely occur; symptoms should be closely monitored, and if any abnormal signs arise, discontinue the medication immediately and seek appropriate treatment. As this medication may affect liver or kidney function, treatment should be stopped and appropriate action taken if any abnormalities are found in liver tests or kidney function tests. Signs of hypersensitivity such as anemia, rash, and itching may also occur, so careful monitoring is required. Neurological symptoms such as insomnia, drowsiness, headache, limb paralysis, rigidity, or tremors may occur; report any unusual symptoms immediately. Gastrointestinal symptoms including nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may also occur; if discomfort persists, consult with a medical professional. Urinary issues may arise, so be cautious if there are any abnormalities in urination. General symptoms such as weakness, dizziness, and general malaise have also been reported; monitor overall health carefully. Rarely, symptoms such as facial flushing, sweating, and swelling may present. Severe cutaneous adverse reactions, such as toxic epidermal necrolysis syndrome, may present with fever, erythema, blisters, itching, conjunctival injection, and stomatitis; if these symptoms occur, discontinue the medication immediately and inform a healthcare provider. Experiencing drowsiness or decreased attention while taking this medication may occur, thus it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Avoid taking this medication in conjunction with other drugs containing similar components as it may cause issues with vision correction. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should exercise caution as the safety of this medication has not been established; consult a physician before use. Nursing mothers should avoid using this medication; if it is unavoidable, it is advisable to stop breastfeeding temporarily. Caution is necessary for use in pediatric patients as safety has not been sufficiently confirmed.
