Improvement of hypertension and angina
This drug is commonly used for hypertension and angina.
1. Hypertension: Adults should take 50mg of Atenolol once daily, either alone or in combination with a diuretic. If no effect is observed within 1-2 weeks, the dose may be increased to 100mg once daily, not exceeding 100mg per day. 2. Angina: Take 100mg once daily, divided into 1-2 doses, not exceeding 100mg per day. 3. Patients with kidney impairment: Creatinine clearance 15-35 ml/min/
This drug should not be used by individuals with allergies to its active ingredient or additives. Patients with severe bronchial asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease should also not take this medication. Patients with diabetic ketoacidosis or metabolic acidosis should not use this drug. It is not administered to patients with a very low heart rate (below 45 bpm) or those with issues in the electrical conduction of the heart. Patients with cardiogenic shock, right heart failure due to pulmonary hypertension, congestive heart failure, severe hypotension, and severe peripheral circulation disorders should also refrain from using this drug. Patients with syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion and those who may develop hyperthyroidism due to this drug, as well as untreated patients with pheochromocytoma, are also contraindicated. This drug should be used cautiously in patients who may experience bronchial asthma or bronchospasm, and when necessary, should be administered along with bronchodilators. Patients at risk of congestive heart failure should be closely monitored when using this drug. Patients at high risk of hypoglycemia or those who do not eat for extended periods may have masked hypoglycemic symptoms, so blood glucose levels should be carefully managed. Patients with severely impaired liver or kidney function, those with pheochromocytoma, and the elderly should start with a lower dosage and be administered with caution. This drug can cause a variety of side effects, including skin rash, itching, decreased tear secretion, blurred vision, bradycardia, hypotension, heart failure, confusion, dizziness, nausea, bronchospasm, etc. If any abnormal symptoms occur, please consult a physician immediately. If used for a long time, heart function, liver, and kidney functions should be regularly monitored; abrupt discontinuation may worsen heart conditions, so the dosage should be gradually reduced according to a doctor's instructions. Patients scheduled for surgery must stop taking this medication 24 hours prior to surgery, and inform healthcare providers to use less stressful anesthesia for the heart. Dizziness may occur at the beginning of treatment with this drug, so driving or operating dangerous machinery should be avoided. Patients with specific heart conditions may experience angina attacks more frequently, so caution is necessary. Especially, rapid heartbeat among hypoglycemic symptoms may be masked, necessitating careful blood glucose management. This drug may mask or worsen symptoms of hyperthyroidism, so caution is advised for patients with thyroid diseases. If the heart rate decreases too much, the dosage should be reduced, and patients with a history of severe allergies may experience serious allergic reactions while taking this drug. Patients with severely impaired kidney function may need dosage adjustments. This drug should be administered cautiously to patients with weak lung function, as it may exacerbate lung function. This drug interacts with other adrenergic inhibitors, diabetes medications, calcium channel blockers, anesthetics, etc. Consultation with a physician is advised when using them together, as the risk of side effects may increase with drug combinations. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider its use, as it may affect the fetus, and during breastfeeding, it is advisable to avoid using it or to stop breastfeeding. Safety for children has not been established, so its use is not recommended. Elderly patients should start at a lower dose and be closely monitored during administration. In case of overdose, symptoms may include decreased heart rate, heart failure, hypotension, bronchospasm, hypoglycemia, etc., requiring immediate medical treatment. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children and store it at room temperature, avoiding high temperatures above 25 degrees.
