This medication helps improve gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, abdominal pain or dyspepsia due to gastritis and duodenitis, as well as nausea and vomiting symptoms. It is also effective for alleviating abdominal discomfort caused by irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon. In children, it is used to treat habitual vomiting and non-infectious gastrointestinal pain and disorders, such as constipation or diarrhea. It effectively improves symptoms of various gastrointestinal diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

Trimebutine maleate, 100-200mg is taken orally three times a day before meals. Adjust the dosage according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose, so it should not be used by patients with a genetic problem that prevents lactose digestion. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal-related side effects such as constipation, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, digestive disorders, dry mouth, and numbness in the mouth may occur rarely. Symptoms of rapid heartbeat may appear rarely, so caution is required. Neurological side effects such as fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headache may also occur occasionally. There have been rare reports of elevated blood test values indicating liver function, therefore it is advisable to check liver health. Allergic reactions such as a rash on the skin may occur, and if such symptoms arise, use should be discontinued immediately. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been fully established, so women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use it only when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. It is recommended that breastfeeding women avoid taking this drug; if it must be taken, it is safest to discontinue breastfeeding.
