Reduction of eye inflammation such as blepharitis and conjunctivitis
This medication is used for various inflammatory conditions of the eye including blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids), conjunctivitis (inflammation of the conjunctiva), keratitis, scleritis, and uveitis. It is also effective in reducing inflammation that may occur after surgery.
Instill 1-2 drops 2-4 times a day. For the first 1-2 days, it may be used hourly as needed. Adjust according to symptoms.
This medication should not be used in patients with viral keratitis or conjunctivitis, fungal eye infections, or infections caused by mycobacteria such as tuberculosis. It should also not be administered to patients with untreated purulent infections, those who have had allergic reactions to this medication, or patients with damaged corneal epithelium or corneal ulcers. Patients with glaucoma and children should be specially cautious when using this medication; in children, long-term use of high doses may lead to adrenal suppression, so it should be used with care. Various side effects such as urticaria, headache, increased intraocular pressure, cataracts, eye pain, and blurred vision may occur during use, so if side effects occur, consult a doctor immediately. Using this medication on conjunctival hyperemia without a doctor's diagnosis may risk vision loss, so it must be used according to an expert's instructions. Prolonged use might lead to serious ocular conditions like glaucoma or cataracts; therefore, regular intraocular pressure tests and lens examinations are necessary. Additionally, if infected with varicella or measles while using this medication, severe complications may occur, so vaccination status should be confirmed and infection risk minimized. Contact lens wearers should remove their lenses before instilling the medication and may reinsert them only after at least 15 minutes. If inflammation or pain persists or worsens for more than 48 hours, discontinue use and seek medical attention. It is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery as vision may temporarily become blurred after instillation. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication cautiously as its safety has not been established; breastfeeding women should also consult with an expert. Children and the elderly are at higher risk of side effects due to decreased physiological functions and require special attention. This medication is for ophthalmic use only; to avoid contamination, ensure the tip of the container does not touch the eyes or other surfaces. In addition, avoid shared use, store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and keep out of reach of children.
