Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with certain skin infections. For example, it can worsen symptoms in patients with bacterial infections such as tuberculosis and syphilis, fungal infections like candidiasis and tinea, viral infections like herpes zoster and herpes simplex, and parasitic infections such as scabies and pediculosis. Additionally, patients who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients, those with a perforated eardrum-related dermatitis, ulcers, severe burns, frostbite, perioral dermatitis, acne, rosacea, itching around the anus or genital area, and infants under 2 years old should not use this medication. Pregnant or nursing women, children, the elderly, and those allergic to propylene glycol in this medication should be particularly cautious when using this. Skin infections may occur while using this medication, and if symptoms of infection appear, use should be discontinued immediately, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Symptoms like skin irritation, rash, itching, and skin dryness may also occur, and use should be stopped if these symptoms arise. Long-term use may cause side effects such as skin thinning or dilation of blood vessels, so usage should be discontinued as soon as symptoms improve. Moreover, this medication can be systemically absorbed and may suppress pituitary or adrenal function, thus regular check-ups are necessary when used extensively or with occlusive dressings. When used around the eyes, it can cause eye diseases such as increased intraocular pressure or glaucoma, so caution is required; if symptoms like blurred vision or visual disturbances occur, immediate consultation with an ophthalmologist is necessary. It is generally not recommended for use in eczema or dermatitis with accompanying skin infections, but if unavoidable, it is advisable to use in conjunction with antibiotics or antifungals. Women who are pregnant or who could become pregnant should not use this medication long-term or extensively, and nursing mothers should also exercise caution. Children are more susceptible to side effects than adults, so it is recommended to avoid continuous use for more than 3 weeks. The elderly also have an increased risk of side effects, so careful observation is required when used in large quantities or for an extended period. This medication should not be used for ophthalmic purposes nor used for non-therapeutic reasons after makeup or shaving. When using occlusive dressings, it must be done according to the physician’s instructions, and the affected area should be cleaned before application. Store this medication out of reach of children and do not transfer to another container for safety.
