This medication helps relieve abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, and vomiting caused by functional disorders of the stomach and esophagus such as esophageal reflux and hiatal hernia. It is also used for abdominal pain and gastrointestinal dysfunction resulting from irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon. In children, it is effective in improving habitual vomiting and non-infectious gastrointestinal pain disorders (constipation, diarrhea). It is used broadly for various functional diseases of the stomach and intestines.

How to take

Adult dose

As Trimebutine Maleate, take 100-200 mg orally three times a day before meals. Adjust dosage as appropriate based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose, so individuals with a genetic condition that prevents the breakdown of lactose should not take it. While taking this medication, rare symptoms such as digestive disorders, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, discomfort in the stomach, or dry mouth may occur. Additionally, symptoms like palpitations, fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, and headaches can arise. There may also be a temporary increase in liver function test values, requiring caution. If an allergic reaction occurs resulting in a skin rash, it is necessary to stop taking the medication immediately. Since the safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been fully confirmed, women who are pregnant or could become pregnant should consult a physician to weigh the benefits of treatment against the risks before taking it. Moreover, the safety of this medication has not been established for nursing women; therefore, it is advisable to avoid taking it, and if it must be taken, cessation of breastfeeding is recommended.
