Relief of gastrointestinal symptoms due to diarrhea and gas adsorption
This medication is used to adsorb gases produced due to diarrhea and abnormal fermentation in the gastrointestinal tract. It is also used as an emergency detoxifying adsorbent in cases of poisoning from drugs or chemicals. However, this medication is not effective at adsorbing cyanide compounds, alcohol, hydrocarbon solvents, certain heavy metals, and inorganic acids. Therefore, appropriate consultation is necessary for detoxification of specific toxic substances. Overall, it helps with gastrointestinal issues and detoxification of certain types of poisonings.
For activated charcoal, take 2 to 20 grams divided into several doses per day. Administer within 30 minutes of intake of the toxic substance in case of acute poisoning. If the amount of the ingested toxic substance is known, the recommended dose of activated charcoal is generally 5-10 times the amount of the ingested toxic substance. Adjust as appropriate according to age and symptoms under the guidance of a physician.
This medication should not be used if there are injuries to the esophagus or if a corrosive substance has been ingested. Diabetic patients should not take this medication without the diagnosis and prescription of a physician. Taking this medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as dyspepsia. Long-term use may interfere with the absorption of vitamins or minerals, potentially leading to nutritional problems. When using this medication as an antidote, avoid taking it simultaneously with certain emetics. If they must be used together, it is recommended to take this medication after vomiting has completely stopped. Additionally, this medication should be taken after gastric lavage or gastric aspiration under the instruction of a physician. Using this medication with other drugs can adsorb them within 2 hours, reducing their effectiveness. Taking it with ice cream or sorbet can also diminish its effectiveness, so it is best not to eat them together. This medication may color the stool black. Caution should be taken as there is no conclusive data on the safety of this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Additionally, it should not be transferred to another container to maintain quality.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication may be sensitive to air or moisture, so it must be stored in a tightly sealed container. The storage temperature should be maintained at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage will help to preserve the medication's effectiveness for a longer period.
