Treatment of ear infections (otitis media, etc.)
This medication is used to treat otitis media and otitis externa caused by various infectious bacteria, including Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Proteus, Pseudomonas, and Influenza bacteria.
Adults: Instill 6-10 drops per dose twice daily. Keep the ear in the bath position for approximately 10 minutes after instillation. Adjust the dose as appropriate according to age and symptoms.
This medication is a type of quinolone antibiotic used to treat specific bacterial infections. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or those who have experienced allergic reactions to quinolone medications in the past should not use this drug. Severe allergic reactions may occur during use, such as a drop in blood pressure, loss of consciousness, swelling of the face or neck, shortness of breath, hives, severe itching, etc., and if these occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. When there is inflammation in the ear, symptoms such as itching, dizziness, and pain may appear, requiring caution. Abnormal symptoms in areas other than the ear may include abnormal taste, ear pain, skin rash, nausea, vomiting, headache, and fever. Symptoms of auditory and vestibular disturbances such as hearing loss, dizziness, or ear ringing may occur, so consult a specialist if such symptoms arise. To prevent antibiotic resistance, this medication should only be used for the minimum necessary duration after confirming the susceptibility of the infecting bacteria, typically recommended for 4 weeks. Long-term use may lead to fungal infections or resistance, so if symptoms persist or recur, consider alternative treatments. Allergic reactions can occur even after a single administration, so if skin rashes or other allergic symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a specialist. When otitis media is localized, direct instillation of this medication into the ear is appropriate, but if inflammation is severe or has spread to the mastoid area, consider additional systemic treatment. During pregnancy, use this medication only when the benefits outweigh the risks, and if breastfeeding, it is advisable to stop breastfeeding or discontinue the medication. For infants under 1 year of age, it is advisable not to use due to the lack of established safety and efficacy. This medication should be used as ear drops only, and when used, if the solution is too cold, it may cause dizziness, so it is advisable to warm it close to body temperature before use. In oral administration, joint abnormalities in young animals have been reported in animal studies, so this medication should be used only as ear drops.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
Store this medication at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius in a tightly sealed container to prevent air exposure. This storage method helps maintain the effectiveness of the medication for a longer period.
