Precautions

This medication contains chlorhexidine gluconate and is used as a disinfectant for skin and mucous membranes. This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine. Patients with a history or family history of allergies such as asthma, or those who are allergic to other medications should exercise caution when using this medication. If symptoms of shock such as nausea, discomfort, cold sweat, dizziness, shortness of breath, or skin redness occur during use, discontinue immediately and inform medical personnel. Occasionally, hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash or urticaria may occur, and use should be stopped if such symptoms appear. This medication may cause photosensitivity reactions, so it is advisable to avoid sunlight exposure. Before use, it is essential to check for any hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine and history of drug allergies. It is safest for pregnant or potentially pregnant women, as well as breastfeeding women, to avoid using this medication. This medication should only be used topically and must never be ingested or injected. In case of accidental ingestion, the stomach should be washed out using milk or eggs, and immediate medical attention is required. Care should be taken to avoid contact with eyes, and if the product gets into the eyes, it should be rinsed immediately with clean water. It is not advisable to use this medication on extensive wounds or burn areas, as the risk of side effects is higher, especially in premature infants or newborns. When using over a long period or on large areas, care should be taken to avoid inhalation of vapor. This medication's disinfecting effect may be diminished by organic materials such as blood or pus; therefore, it should be used only after thoroughly washing medical equipment. Soaps or detergents can weaken the effectiveness of this medication; it should be washed off before use. This medication adheres to fabrics such as cotton or gauze, so if the solution concentration decreases, it should be replaced with a new solution. It is advisable to use clean distilled water for dilution, and the diluted solution must be sterilized before use. Dilutions should be made fresh daily, and any leftover solution should be discarded. The optimal pH for this medication is between 5 and 7; care should be taken during storage as crystallization may occur if the pH exceeds 8. Do not store the diluted solution for extended periods at high temperatures, and non-sterilized solutions should be used immediately. Adding alcohol at a certain concentration may help prevent microbial contamination in the diluted solution.
