This drug should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to α-lipoic acid. Moreover, there is insufficient clinical experience regarding safety or efficacy in children and adolescents, hence it should not be administered in these age groups. Occasionally, gastrointestinal adverse reactions such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or diarrhea may occur during the use of this medication. Allergic reactions such as rash, urticaria, or itching may also occur. Caution should be taken as there is a possibility of hypoglycemic symptoms such as dizziness, sweating, headaches, and vision disturbances due to low blood sugar. Also, rarely, there may be abnormalities in taste perception. It is advisable to avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication, as alcohol can worsen neurological symptoms and interfere with the therapeutic effects of the medication. Patients with diabetic neuropathy should particularly avoid alcohol, including during breaks from the medication. Caution should be exercised as this drug may reduce the efficacy of the specific anticancer agent cisplatin; hence, it should not be taken together. Additionally, medications containing metal components such as iron or magnesium, or foods high in calcium like milk, may impair the absorption of the drug, so it is better to take them at different times. When used together with insulin or oral hypoglycemic agents for diabetes treatment, there is a risk of blood sugar becoming too low; therefore, blood sugar levels should be checked frequently, and adjustments to the medication dosage should be made if necessary. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, as the safety of this drug has not been completely established, it should be used cautiously after consulting a doctor. In case of overdose, severe toxicity symptoms may occur, so the prescribed dosage must be strictly followed, and if an overdose is suspected, immediate medical attention should be sought.
