How to take
Adult dose
The recommended dose is 600 mg of eprosartan per day in a single oral dose. This medication can be taken regardless of meals.
Precautions
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. This drug should not be taken by people who are allergic to it or its components, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, individuals with severe liver dysfunction, those with a history of angioedema, and people with serious problems in renal arteries. Elderly individuals or those with slightly impaired liver function, as well as those with heart valve diseases or ischemic heart diseases, should use this medication with caution. Caution is required when taken with other medications that can increase potassium levels, as this can lead to dangerously elevated blood potassium levels. While taking this medication, side effects such as headaches, cold symptoms, muscle pain, dizziness, and cough may occur, most of which are mild and transient. This drug can affect liver and kidney function; therefore, it is important to regularly monitor liver values and kidney function through blood tests. Symptoms of low blood pressure may occur, especially in cases of dehydration; if symptoms are severe, medical attention should be sought immediately. If this medication is taken during pregnancy, it is recommended to check the renal function of the fetus and the development of the skull via ultrasound examination. Breastfeeding women are advised to avoid taking this medication, and if it must be taken, breastfeeding should be discontinued. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in children and adolescents under the age of 18, and it is not recommended for them. The plasma concentration of this drug may be higher in elderly patients than in younger adults, so greater caution is warranted during administration. When taken together with other antihypertensive medications or certain diuretics, the potential for interactions exists; therefore, consult with medical personnel. Overdosing may lead to symptoms of low blood pressure, so care must be taken to avoid exceeding the prescribed dose. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in its original container to prevent misuse or deterioration of quality.
