Iron deficiency anemia occurs when there is a lack of iron in the body, which can cause symptoms such as fatigue, pale skin, and shortness of breath. This medication is used to replenish iron, normalize blood hemoglobin levels, and improve symptoms of anemia.

How to take

Adult dose

Capsules: Take 150mg as iron once a day. Syrup (excluding Hemotop syrup): Take 100mg to 200mg as iron once a day. Syrup (including Hemotop syrup): Take 100mg to 200mg as iron once a day. Tablets: Take 50mg to 100mg as iron twice a day.

Child dose

Syrup (excluding Hemotop syrup): For ages 6 and older, take 100mg as iron once a day. Syrup (including Hemotop syrup): For ages 7 to 12, take 100mg as iron once a day. Syrup (including Hemotop syrup): For ages 2 and younger.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious poisoning and may be fatal if accidentally ingested in large amounts by children, thus it should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children. Do not use this medication if you are allergic to it, are under 12 months old, have certain iron metabolism disorders, or are in a state of iron overload. Also, it is important not to take this medication together with phosphate, calcium salts, certain antibiotics, or antacids while on treatment. Avoid tea containing tannins, such as green tea or black tea, as well as milk and dairy products before and after taking this medication, as they may interfere with its absorption. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases or issues related to the heart or kidneys should consult a doctor or pharmacist before using this medication. If any unusual symptoms occur during use, such as skin rash, itching, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, or severe fatigue, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a professional. Always adhere to the prescribed usage and dosage, and if symptoms do not improve after one month of use, consult a doctor.

Drug interactions

This medication should not be taken together with phosphate, calcium salts, oral tetracycline antibiotics, antacids, iron supplements (iron preparations, MRI liver contrast agents, etc.), aldosterone antagonists, triamterene, diphosphonic acids, thyroxine, cephdinir preparations, quinolones, penicillamine, cholestyramine, pancreatic enzymes, vitamin E preparations, and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in doses over 200mg, without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

Food interactions

This medication should be avoided in conjunction with tea containing tannins, such as green tea or black tea, as well as milk and dairy products before and after use.
