Precautions

This medication is an alpha-blocker used to lower blood pressure and relieve urinary disturbances caused by prostate enlargement. This drug should not be administered to certain patients. For example, patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or similar medications, children under 12 years of age, and those with lactose intolerance or a hereditary lactose metabolism disorder should avoid taking it. Patients with severe liver or kidney impairment, orthostatic hypotension, heart-related diseases, diabetes, and other specific conditions should be particularly cautious when using this medication. Taking this medication may cause dizziness, headaches, drowsiness, and symptoms of orthostatic hypotension due to low blood pressure, so special caution should be taken in the initial stages of treatment, and it is advisable to avoid dangerous activities such as working at heights or driving. This medication can occasionally cause fainting; hence, it is crucial to rise slowly when starting treatment or increasing the dosage, and if symptoms occur, lie down and rest immediately. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose-related metabolic disorders should not take it. When taken with other medications, the blood pressure-lowering effect may be enhanced, so individuals taking blood pressure medications or drugs like verapamil should consult with their doctor. Pregnant or nursing women should use this medication cautiously, as its safety has not been established; it is advisable to avoid taking it while nursing or to discontinue breastfeeding if possible. Elderly patients should start with a low dose to prevent excessive drops in blood pressure and monitor their condition closely. In case of overdose, severe hypotension and arrhythmias may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention, as dialysis will not be effective. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children, and it is best not to transfer it to another container for safety and quality maintenance.
