This medication acts to supplement hormones in postmenopausal women, but it may increase the risk of endometrial cancer. Therefore, women with an intact uterus should take additional progestin as directed by their doctor. This medication should not be used to prevent cardiovascular disease, and caution should be taken for long-term use in women over 65, as it may increase the risk of dementia. This medication should not be used in cases of abnormal genital bleeding, estrogen-dependent cancers, thrombosis, liver disease, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Patients with a history or family history of smooth muscle tumors, hypertension, diabetes, liver disease, migraines, or depression should use this medication with caution, requiring regular check-ups and monitoring by a physician. This medication may cause side effects such as breast pain, edema, thrombosis, skin rashes, mental changes, fluid retention, and abnormal bleeding, so immediate consultation with a doctor is necessary if any unusual symptoms occur. Long-term use may increase the risk of breast cancer, so regular breast examinations and imaging tests are recommended. This medication may increase blood coagulation, so those at high risk for thrombosis should consult their physician thoroughly before taking it. There may be interactions with other medications, especially those that increase liver enzymes, blood glucose-lowering agents, and anticonvulsants, so caution is required. Pregnant or potentially pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should not use this medication, as it may decrease the quantity and quality of breast milk. In case of overdose, symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, breast pain, and fatigue may occur, and there is no specific antidote, so treatment should be supportive according to symptoms.
