It should also not be administered to patients with gastrointestinal problems such as gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction, or perforation. Patients with hypertension caused by specific tumors, those with allergic reactions or intolerable reactions to this medication, those with epilepsy or manic states, and early-stage bipolar disorder patients should also refrain from using this medication. Additionally, it should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or specific genetic metabolic disorders. Care should be taken when administering this medication to patients with hypertension, children, and the elderly, as symptoms may manifest easily in children particularly. Taking this medication may lead to endocrine disorders such as amenorrhea, galactorrhea, and gynecomastia, so it is important to immediately stop taking the medication if any unusual symptoms arise. Symptoms such as tremors, tongue twisting, and restlessness may occur rarely, and the medication should be discontinued if these symptoms appear. Long-term use may cause involuntary movements around the mouth and can lead to gastrointestinal symptoms like dry mouth, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Rare reports of cardiac-related abnormalities such as hypertension or arrhythmias have been noted, and rarely, serious neuroleptic malignant syndrome can occur, necessitating immediate discontinuation and treatment if symptoms such as high fever, muscle rigidity, or changes in consciousness arise. During the use of this medication, rashes, swelling, flushing, fatigue, insomnia, drowsiness, dizziness, erection difficulties, and changes in sexual desire may occur, so consultation with a doctor should be sought if these symptoms appear. This medication increases prolactin secretion, which can lead to galactorrhea or endocrine disorders; therefore, patients should be thoroughly informed before taking it. It is advisable to avoid activities requiring concentration, such as driving or operating machinery, during the course of this medication. This medication may interact with other drugs, and caution is advised when used concurrently with anticholinergic drugs, opioid analgesics, digitalis preparations, benzamide drugs, psychiatric medications, and drugs that prolong the QT interval, and it should not be taken with alcohol. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication, and the elderly should exercise caution regarding dosage adjustment and adverse reactions due to decreased renal function, which may lead to increased drug concentration. This medication has an antiemetic effect and can mask vomiting symptoms due to other causes, so observation should be conducted carefully during administration. Animal studies have reported reduced reproductive function and tumor risk; thus, caution is needed during long-term use.
