Precautions

This medication is in a glass ampoule form, and glass particles may be mixed when opening the container, so it must be carefully cut during use. Particular caution is needed when administering to children or the elderly. This medication should not be given to patients with poor kidney function, comatose patients, patients with high magnesium levels in the blood, those with cardiac conduction disorders, and patients with myasthenia gravis. Caution is advised when administering to children with intestinal parasitic diseases and patients with heart conditions. Gastrointestinal side effects such as vomiting or dryness of the mouth may occur when using this medication. Additionally, circulatory issues such as cardiac arrhythmias or bradycardia may rarely arise. Rapid injection may cause reddening of the skin or peripheral blood vessel dilation. Autonomic nervous system symptoms such as headaches, a heavy sensation in the head, tremors, and tingling may occur. In case of overdose, symptoms may include fever, severe thirst, reduced blood pressure, suppression of the central nervous system and heart rate, leading to difficulties in breathing, necessitating caution. Calcium injections can be used for detoxification in such cases. A burning sensation may be felt at the injection site. The effects of this medication may be enhanced when used with other CNS depressants, so caution is advised. Using it with iron supplements, certain antibiotics, fluorinated compounds, etc., may decrease their absorption. When used with muscle relaxants, the effects of this medication may increase and affect muscle function. It may be administered to pregnant women for treating eclampsia, but it could affect the fetus with decreased muscle tone, hypotension, or respiratory depression, so fetal condition must be monitored carefully. It is best not to use this medication during labor or within 2 hours post-delivery. With prolonged or repeated doses, it is essential to monitor the calcium and magnesium levels in newborns and be aware of skeletal side effects. The safety during breastfeeding has not been established, so it is not recommended unless specifically necessary. Elderly patients may have reduced bodily functions, so administration should be done slowly, adjusting the dosage as needed. Severe problems with heart and respiration can arise in case of overdose, so symptoms should be closely monitored and treated immediately if needed. Intravenous injections should be administered slowly at a concentration of less than 10%, and it is advisable not to mix it with other medications, as precipitates may form. Before administration, ensure the patient's skin and injection equipment are thoroughly disinfected, and the medication should be used immediately after opening, with any leftover medication not to be reused.
