Precautions

This medication should not be used by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, nor by nursing mothers. It should not be administered to patients with gastrointestinal issues such as gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation. Additionally, it is contraindicated for patients with certain tumors known as chromaffin cell tumors. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or have difficulty tolerating it should also refrain from taking it. Patients with epilepsy, manic state, or patients in the manic phase of bipolar disorder should not use this medication. Patients with malignant diseases in the breast should also avoid taking it. This medication contains lactose, so individuals with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should not take it. Patients with hypertension, children, and the elderly should exercise special caution when using this medication. Children may experience side effects more easily, so overdose should be avoided, and the elderly should be careful as renal function may decline, leading to increased drug concentration. This medication may cause menstrual irregularities, galactorrhea, gynecomastia due to hormonal secretion abnormalities. Nervous system side effects such as tremors, tongue twisting, and anxiety may occur rarely, and in such cases, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Long-term use can cause involuntary movements around the mouth and gastrointestinal symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Cardiac side effects such as hypertension or arrhythmias may also occur, so caution is needed. During the use of this medication, rare occurrences of severe neuroleptic malignant syndrome, presenting as high fever, muscle rigidity, and altered consciousness, may arise, thus requiring immediate medical attention if any abnormal symptoms appear. Allergic reactions such as itching, rashes, and swelling may also occur rarely, which warrants caution. Patients should be informed in advance about the possibility of side effects due to increased prolactin hormone secretion while taking this medication. It is safer to avoid activities that require attention, like driving or operating machinery. If taken with other medications affecting the heart, the risk of side effects may increase, so it is essential to consult healthcare professionals. This medication may interact with drugs that regulate gastrointestinal motility, so caution is needed when used together, and it should be avoided when taken with psychiatric medications or alcohol as unexpected side effects may occur. Pregnant or nursing women are advised against taking this medication due to the lack of established safety for the fetus and neonate. The elderly should adjust the dose and interval due to possible increased drug concentration from declining renal function and use it cautiously. While this medication can alleviate vomiting symptoms, it should be carefully monitored if vomiting is due to other conditions. Long-term high-dose administration has been reported in some animal experiments to cause reproductive abnormalities and tumor formation, so caution is necessary with long-term use.
