Precautions

This medication exhibits analgesic effects as the codeine component is converted to morphine in the liver. However, since the metabolic rate varies among individuals, some patients may experience a rapid increase in morphine concentration, leading to severe side effects. If symptoms such as slowed or shallow breathing, confusion, insomnia, constricted pupils, constipation, or decreased appetite occur while taking this medication, immediately discontinue use and consult a doctor. Individuals who consume alcohol in excess of a certain amount daily should always consult with a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication or other antipyretic analgesics. Taking it with alcohol may increase the risk of liver damage or gastrointestinal bleeding. This medication contains non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), so caution is advised as the risk of serious side effects such as cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and perforations may increase. The acetaminophen component can cause acute liver failure in case of overdose; therefore, caution is necessary to avoid taking this medication with other acetaminophen products, and patients with impaired liver function should only take it after consulting a doctor. It is advisable to avoid this medication in obese patients under the age of 18 with a high risk of respiratory depression, patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, and patients with severe pulmonary disease. Taking this medication in conjunction with other CNS depressants or alcohol may significantly increase risks of severe sedation, respiratory depression, coma, and death, so consultation with a specialist is essential when combining medications. This medication should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to opioids, asthma, severe respiratory depression, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, head injury, chronic lung disease, seizure disorders, acute alcohol intoxication, severe blood disorders, severe hypertension, hemorrhagic colitis, peptic ulcers, patients under 18 after obstructive sleep apnea surgery, children under 12, nursing mothers, and pregnant women in the late stages of pregnancy. Patients with heart disease, respiratory depression, liver or kidney dysfunction, head injury, shock, metabolic acidosis, hypothyroidism, adrenal insufficiency, bleeding tendencies, asthma, a history of drug dependence or alcohol addiction, elderly patients, prostatic enlargement, and patients after gastrointestinal surgery should be administered this medication with caution. Long-term use of this medication can lead to drug dependence or tolerance, so care should be taken to avoid continuous use for more than 4 weeks, and withdrawal symptoms may occur upon discontinuation. Care is needed while driving or operating dangerous machinery due to the sedative effects of this medication. During pregnancy, especially in the late stages, it may harm the fetus; therefore, it is advisable for pregnant women not to take it, and nursing mothers should cease breastfeeding as the drug can be transmitted through breast milk. In cases of overdose, liver damage, respiratory depression, and renal impairment may occur, so seek immediate medical attention for proper treatment. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and care must be taken to avoid transferring it to other containers.
