Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who are hypersensitive to it. During use, eyelid inflammation or conjunctivitis may occur, and if these symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately. Caution is necessary as prolonged use may change the type of bacteria, reducing treatment effectiveness. An allergic reaction such as contact dermatitis may occur in some individuals; if such symptoms arise, use should be stopped. Occasionally, increased tearing, temporary eye pain, burning sensation, or foreign body sensation may occur. When using this medication, check bacterial susceptibility to prevent the development of resistant strains and use only for the necessary minimum period. Caution should be exercised as fungi or other strains that are not susceptible to this medication may grow excessively. If multiple infections are present, use of this medication should be discontinued and appropriate treatment should be initiated. Temporary vision may be blurred after applying this medication, but it does not affect driving or operating machinery. Particularly caution should be taken for late-stage pregnant women, children, especially infants and young children under 8 years of age, as systemic administration of this medication may affect skeletal and dental development. When used topically in small amounts, it is not a major concern, but these possibilities should be considered. Depending on the type of infection and symptoms, it may be used from 1 day to several weeks, and when eyelid inflammation is present, clean any discharge and crusts before applying the ointment. When used for prevention, it should be applied the day before surgery and for several days after surgery in the same manner. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only if the therapeutic benefit outweighs the risk. It is not known whether this medication is transmitted through breast milk; however, nursing mothers should refrain from using it or discontinue nursing if unavoidable. This medication is intended for use in the eyes only and should not be used on other areas. Care should be taken to avoid contaminating the tube opening while applying the ointment. To prevent infection, it is advisable not to share this medication with others if possible. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, in a sealed container away from direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry place. Additionally, to prevent misuse and maintain quality, it should not be transferred to other containers.
