Precautions

This medicine should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. The rhubarb component in this medicine can cause uterine contractions, increasing the risk of premature birth or miscarriage. Additionally, it is advisable for nursing women not to take this medicine. The components in rhubarb can be transmitted through breast milk and may cause diarrhea in infants. It is safer for individuals with fever due to inflammation, weak physical condition, or lack of energy not to take this medicine. This medicine contains lactose, so patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. Patients with high blood pressure, older individuals, those with heart or kidney problems, or patients with body swelling should consult their doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine. If currently being treated or experiencing symptoms of diarrhea or loose stools, consultation with a professional before taking this medicine is necessary. Patients with significantly weak gastrointestinal systems or symptoms of anorexia, nausea, vomiting, and extreme fatigue may easily experience side effects, so caution should be exercised. Particularly, if children have poor nutritional status or are experiencing phlegm-heat syndrome, careful administration is required. If, after taking this medicine, urine volume decreases, or swelling occurs in the face, hands, or feet, or eyelids become heavy, fingers stiffen, blood pressure rises, or headaches develop, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. The glycyrrhizin component in this medicine can cause side effects such as hypokalemia, increased blood pressure, fluid retention, swelling, and weight gain if taken in excessive amounts over a long period, so regular blood tests are required. Symptoms such as muscle weakness, limb cramps, or paralysis may occur due to hypokalemia, so if these symptoms present, discontinue use. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as anorexia, stomach discomfort, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or diarrhea occur, stop taking the medicine and seek advice. The risk of side effects increases when taken with potassium-containing medications, glycyrrhizin-containing products, or specific diuretics, so caution is advised. The diarrhea-inducing effect of rhubarb varies from person to person, so the prescribed method of use and dosage must be strictly adhered to. Stimulant laxatives should not be used continuously for more than a week, as their effectiveness decreases and constipation can worsen. If constipation persists, its cause should be identified. When taking other herbal medicines or raw herbal products, it is necessary to ensure that there are no overlapping components, particularly being cautious to avoid overlapped rhubarb components. It is recommended to take this medicine by dissolving it in hot water, consuming only the upper layer. When storing, it should be kept in a tightly sealed container away from direct sunlight and in a cool place with low humidity, and it should not be transferred to another container to maintain quality.
