View approved original text

This medication is used to improve ischemic symptoms such as ulcers, pain, and cold sensation caused by chronic arterial occlusion, as well as to prevent recurrence after the onset of cerebral infarction. It is particularly effective for symptoms related to Buerger's disease, obliterative atherosclerosis, and diabetic peripheral vascular disease. Patients can expect improved blood circulation and alleviation of symptoms through this medication.

How to take

Adult dose

As Cilostazol, the usual adult dose is 100 mg orally twice a day. Dose may be adjusted appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication may increase heart rate, which can result in angina symptoms, so patients should be carefully monitored for these signs, such as chest pain. This medication should not be used in patients with a high risk of bleeding or those who have recently had a bleeding disorder, heart failure patients, patients allergic to this medication, pregnant or nursing women, and patients with certain hereditary lactose metabolism disorders. Patients taking anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, thrombolytics, women during menstruation, patients with coronary artery stenosis, patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment, diabetes patients, patients with uncontrolled hypertension, patients with arrhythmia, etc., should use this medication carefully. This medication can cause serious side effects such as bleeding, blood cell reduction, interstitial pneumonia, heart problems, and liver dysfunction, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to a doctor immediately. Various side effects such as dizziness, headache, gastrointestinal disturbances, skin rash, and palpitations have been reported, so caution is necessary if these symptoms occur. In patients with cerebral infarction, administration should occur after symptoms have stabilized, and blood pressure should be well managed during treatment. Caution is advised as dizziness may occur when driving or operating machinery. This medication is metabolized in the liver, so taking it with certain drugs may increase blood concentration or enhance effects; therefore, consultation with healthcare professionals about concomitant medications is essential. Pregnant or nursing women should not take this medication and should discontinue use during nursing. Safety for children or low birth weight infants has not been established, so caution is needed. Elderly patients may have decreased body function, so dosage should be adjusted accordingly. In case of overdose, symptoms such as headache, diarrhea, hypotension, tachycardia, and arrhythmias may occur, requiring immediate medical attention, and effective removal through blood dialysis is difficult. This medication may affect the heart and blood vessels, so patients with pre-existing heart disease or those with difficult blood pressure control should use it more cautiously.
