This medication is effectively used for painful muscle spasms due to musculoskeletal disorders, such as shoulder-hand syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder, and back pain. It also helps relieve stiffness due to various neurological conditions such as symptoms of spastic paralysis caused by neurological disorders, cerebrovascular accidents, spastic spinal paralysis, and sequelae of spinal cord injury. This drug contributes to improving patients' movement and daily life by alleviating excessive muscle tension. It helps reduce muscle stiffness and pain across various diseases, improving the quality of life for patients. It is used for the treatment of muscle stiffness and pain occurring in musculoskeletal and neurological disorders.
As Eperisone Hydrochloride, 50 mg orally, three times a day after meals. Adjust dosage as appropriate based on age and symptoms.
This drug should not be used by certain patients. First, persons allergic to this medication should not take it. Furthermore, patients with severe myasthenia gravis, where the muscles are very weak, should not use this drug. This drug contains lactose, so individuals with a genetic disorder that prevents lactose digestion should not take it. When using this medication, patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or those with liver function problems should use it with caution. Since liver function may deteriorate, individuals with liver dysfunction should take it carefully under the guidance of a physician. Severe allergic reactions, such as shock, may rarely occur while taking this drug, so if symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment. Since liver enzyme levels may rise abnormally, liver function tests should be performed, and medication should be stopped if abnormal symptoms occur. It may also affect kidney function, so if proteinuria or abnormalities are found in blood tests, the medication should be discontinued. Blood abnormalities, such as anemia, can occur rarely, so symptoms should be observed closely. Hypersensitivity reactions, such as skin rash or itching, may occur. Neurological symptoms such as insomnia, drowsiness, headache, and tingling in limbs have also been reported, requiring caution. Gastrointestinal symptoms including nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, diarrhea, etc., may also occur. Urinary symptoms, such as difficulty urinating or a feeling of incomplete bladder emptying, may rarely occur. General symptoms such as weakness, dizziness, and decreased muscle tone may also be experienced. Other symptoms, such as facial flushing or excessive sweating, and swelling may also arise. In particular, serious skin adverse reactions, such as toxic epidermal necrolysis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome, may occur, so if symptoms such as skin rash, blisters, eye redness, and oral mucosa lesions appear, discontinue use immediately. Drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur while taking this drug, so driving or operating dangerous machinery should be avoided. Caution is warranted when using this drug with similar medications or muscle relaxants, as vision impairment may occur. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take this drug after consulting a physician, as its safety has not been established. Women who are breastfeeding should avoid taking this drug, and if necessary, should discontinue breastfeeding during its use. Safety has not been sufficiently established for children, so care is needed for their use. Elderly individuals may have decreased bodily functions; therefore, careful observation and dose adjustment may be required.
