This medication helps relieve spasms and is used for gastric/duodenal ulcers, gastritis, colitis, diverticulitis, and spasmodic constipation.

How to take

Adult dose

As Dicyclomine Hydrochloride, take 10 to 20 mg three to four times a day.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by people with certain conditions. For example, those with glaucoma, prostate hypertrophy, severe heart disease, obstructive urinary tract disease, gastrointestinal obstruction, paralytic ileus, intestinal atony, acute bleeding cardiovascular instability, and those allergic to this medication should not use it. Additionally, infants under 6 months or breastfeeding women, patients with severe myasthenia gravis or ulcerative colitis, megacolon, and gastroesophageal reflux disease should not take this drug. This medication contains lactose, so individuals with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should avoid it. It is advisable to refrain from breastfeeding while taking this medication as it can be transmitted through breast milk. Patients with autonomic neuropathy, liver or kidney disease, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, prostate hypertrophy, heart dysfunction, those in high-temperature environments, ulcerative colitis patients, elderly individuals, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, and children should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. Elderly patients, in particular, may experience symptoms such as dry mouth, urinary disturbances, constipation, and increased intraocular pressure more easily as side effects of this medication, so caution is warranted. If during the course of treatment you experience visual disturbances, dilated pupils, blurred vision, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, difficulty breathing, nasal congestion, dry mouth, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, palpitations, arrhythmia, facial swelling, itching, urinary disturbances, lethargy, or weakness, you should immediately discontinue use and consult a doctor or pharmacist. Caution is required when taken with other medications, particularly phenothiazine drugs, tricyclic antidepressants, MAO inhibitors, narcotic analgesics, antiarrhythmics, and benzodiazepines, as these can exacerbate the side effects of this medication. Additionally, this medication may cause drowsiness or vision problems, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery.
