Glucose tolerance measurement provides foundational data for treatment planning by monitoring the patient's blood sugar response. This contributes to improving blood sugar control and preventing complications. Therefore, this test is essential for the diagnosis and management of diabetes.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Adults (excluding pregnant women): 75g of glucose. Pregnant women: 100g of glucose.

Children's dosage

Administer 1.75g of glucose per kg of body weight, not exceeding 75g of glucose.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with glucose-galactose malabsorption. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients with diabetes insipidus. This medication may cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea or vomiting, and occasionally abdominal bloating, diarrhea, or abdominal pain. Additionally, side effects related to the central nervous system, such as headaches, may occasionally occur. This medication should be taken orally strictly according to the doctor's instructions. Medications, including this one, should be discontinued the day before the test, and excessive food intake or alcohol consumption should be avoided. For 12 hours before the test, nothing should be eaten, and fasting should be maintained on the morning of the test; beverages or foods other than water should not be consumed until the test is completed. During the test, a comfortable position should be maintained, and vigorous exercise should be avoided. It is advisable not to smoke before and during the test. Test results may be affected by various factors, so the patient's condition should be well-observed to aid in the interpretation of results. This medication contains sodium benzoate, which may cause slight irritation to the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. Laxatives may interfere with the intestinal absorption of this medication, so they should not be taken concurrently. Seniors may have reduced bodily function, so caution is needed, such as reducing the dosage when using this medication. This medication should be kept in a safe place out of reach of children.
