Precautions

This medicine should not be used in patients with inflammatory fever. It should be administered cautiously to patients with pediatric nutritional disorders or phlegm-heat. The glycyrrhizin component contained in this medicine may cause symptoms similar to aldosteronism, such as hypokalemia, increased blood pressure, sodium and fluid retention, edema, and weight gain if taken long-term in doses exceeding 40 milligrams per day. Additionally, side effects such as dry mouth or a curled tongue may occur. It is advisable not to use Banha and Oduo (Atractylodes) together in drug combinations. When storing, keep the medicine tightly sealed in a cool place away from direct sunlight and moisture. After use, be sure to seal it tightly. Transferring to another container can pose risks of misuse and deterioration of quality, so caution is advised. Patients with high blood pressure, elderly individuals, those with heart or kidney disease, and patients with edema should consult with a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine. If symptoms such as decreased urine output, facial or extremity swelling, eyelid heaviness, hand stiffness, increased blood pressure, and headaches occur during use, discontinue use immediately and consult a specialist. Due to excessive intake of the licorice component, symptoms of hyperaldosteronism, such as hypokalemia, increased blood pressure, fluid retention, edema, and weight gain may occur, so serum potassium levels should be monitored periodically and use discontinued if abnormalities are found. Symptoms of myopathy due to hypokalemia, such as weakness, limb cramps, and paralysis, may occur, so if any of these symptoms arise, discontinue use and consult a specialist. Caution should be exercised when taking potassium-containing preparations or licorice-containing preparations, preparations containing glycyrrhizin or its salts, loop diuretics, or thiazide diuretics, as myopathy due to hyperaldosteronism or hypokalemia may occur.
