This drug helps improve ischemic symptoms such as ulcers, pain, and coldness caused by chronic arterial occlusion. It also serves to inhibit recurrence after the onset of cerebral infarction, excluding cardiogenic cerebral embolism. Therefore, it is used to improve blood circulation and prevent recurrence of cerebrovascular diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

Cilostazol 100 mg orally, twice a day for the average adult. Adjust dosage appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This drug may increase heart rate, which poses a risk of angina symptoms, so careful observation for symptoms of angina such as chest pain is necessary. This drug should not be used in patients at risk of bleeding or those who have recently had a bleeding disorder, nor should it be administered to patients with weakened cardiac function such as congestive heart failure. It should also not be given to individuals with allergic reactions to this drug or to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients taking medications affecting blood coagulation, such as anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents, should use with caution as the risk of bleeding may increase. Additionally, women who are menstruating or patients with heart disease, kidney failure, liver dysfunction, or diabetes should exercise particular caution when using this drug. This drug can cause serious side effects such as bleeding, blood cell reduction, interstitial pneumonia, and heart problems, so if any symptoms occur, consult a doctor immediately. Dizziness may occur, so caution is needed before driving or operating machinery. Since this drug is metabolized in the liver, care should be taken regarding changes in blood concentration when taken with other drugs that affect liver function, and concomitant use with grapefruit juice should be avoided. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this drug, and breastfeeding should be discontinued if they are nursing. Children and elderly individuals may require dosage adjustments or special precautions due to different bodily functions. In case of overdose, symptoms such as severe headache, diarrhea, hypotension, and rapid heartbeat may occur, and medical help should be sought immediately.
