Precautions

This drug should not be administered to women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, or to nursing mothers. It should also not be given to patients with gastrointestinal bleeding or mechanical obstruction, as well as patients with pheochromocytoma. Patients with allergic reactions to this drug, intolerant patients, patients with liver disease, patients in the manic phase of bipolar disorder, and patients with malignant gynecomastia should also avoid using this drug. Caution is advised when administering this drug to patients with hypertension, children, and the elderly. In the case of children, particular attention should be paid to the risk of overdose. During the intake of this drug, endocrine disturbances such as amenorrhea, galactorrhea, and gynecomastia may occur, so careful monitoring is required. Additionally, extrapyramidal symptoms such as tremors, tongue twisting, and restlessness, or involuntary movements may occur, and if these symptoms appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Gastrointestinal side effects such as dry mouth, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation may occur, while cardiovascular side effects such as hypertension or arrhythmia may also arise. Rarely, a serious adverse effect known as neuroleptic malignant syndrome may emerge, presenting with high fever, muscle rigidity, and altered consciousness; in such cases, it is imperative to discontinue the medication and seek appropriate treatment immediately. Other rare side effects may include rash, edema, burning sensation, fatigue, insomnia, drowsiness, dizziness, unsteadiness, erectile dysfunction, and changes in libido. During the use of this drug, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating machinery that requires attention. Additionally, this drug may interact with other medications; caution is necessary when used alongside anticholinergics, narcotic analgesics, digitalis preparations, other benzamide drugs, psychotropic medications, QT interval prolonging drugs, and drugs causing electrolyte disturbances. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid taking this drug, and elderly patients should carefully adjust the dosage and administration intervals due to risks of elevated drug concentrations from reduced kidney function. Finally, this drug can mask vomiting symptoms caused by other medications due to its antiemetic action, so it should be administered while adequately monitoring the patient's condition.
