How to take

Adult dose

Capsules: 150 mg once daily as iron. Syrup (excluding Hemotop syrup): 100 to 200 mg daily as iron. Syrup (only Hemotop syrup): 100 to 200 mg daily as iron. Tablets: 50 to 100 mg once, twice daily as iron.

Child dose

Syrup (excluding Hemotop syrup): 100 mg once daily for children over 6 years of age. Syrup (only Hemotop syrup): 100 mg daily for children aged 7 to 12 years, 50 mg for children aged 2 to 6 years, and 25 mg for children under 2 years. Tablets

Precautions

This medication can cause severe toxicity that threatens life if accidentally overdosed by children under the age of 6, so it should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children. Especially, those who are undergoing treatment by a physician or have gastrointestinal diseases, cardiovascular issues, kidney disorders, or hypoproteinemia should consult with a professional before taking this medication. If symptoms such as hives, itching, skin hypersensitivity reactions, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, or altered consciousness occur, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. This medication should be taken strictly according to the prescribed dosage and it is important to take it only after accurately identifying the cause of anemia. When administered to children, supervision by a guardian is necessary, and if symptoms do not improve or worsen after more than a month of use, consultation with a professional is required. Regular blood tests should be conducted during use to prevent overdose, and taking vitamin C above 200 mg may increase iron absorption. Store the medication in a place out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and keep it in a cool, dry place. Also, to maintain quality, do not transfer to another container and take care to avoid misuse.

Drug interactions

Do not take with oral tetracycline antibiotics or antacids. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking with preparations containing iron (iron supplements, liver contrast agents for MRI, etc.), aldosterone antagonists, triamterene, diphosphonate salts, levothyroxine, cefdinir preparations, quinolones, penicillamine, cholestyramine, pancreatic excretions, and vitamin E.
