Precautions

This medicine should not be used by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as by women who are breastfeeding. It is also safe not to administer to patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction, or perforation. This medication should not be used in certain patients who can develop hypertension due to tumors. Patients who are allergic to this medicine or cannot tolerate the drug should also avoid administration. This drug is not suitable for patients with liver disease or those in certain stages of mental illness. Additionally, caution is required as this medication may exacerbate breast problems in patients with breast-related disorders. Use in hypertensive patients, children, and elderly patients should be done with caution. Particularly in children, it is important to adjust dosages as drug side effects may easily manifest. This medication may affect the endocrine system, leading to menstrual irregularities, increased milk secretion, and gynecomastia; if unusual symptoms appear, it should be discontinued immediately. It may impact motor functions, potentially causing tremors, abnormal tongue movements, and agitation; discontinue use if such symptoms occur. Long-term use can lead to involuntary facial movements, hence caution is needed. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as dry mouth, heartburn, nausea, diarrhea, and constipation may occur. Cardiac-related side effects may include hypertension or arrhythmia, thus monitoring is necessary. In severe cases, a dangerous condition known as neuroleptic malignant syndrome may occur, with symptoms such as high fever, muscle rigidity, and changes in consciousness, requiring immediate treatment. Skin rashes or swelling may rarely occur; discontinue if there are unusual symptoms. It is advisable to avoid activities requiring concentration, such as driving or operating machinery, during treatment. Also, unexpected side effects may occur due to interactions with other medications, so it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist before use. It is especially safe not to co-administer with medications that affect heart rate or cause electrolyte imbalances. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use this medication for the safety of the fetus and newborn. Elderly patients need to be cautious as renal function may decline leading to increased drug concentration; dosage and administration intervals must be adjusted accordingly. This medication has a suppressive effect on vomiting symptoms, so it should be used carefully after accurately identifying the cause of vomiting. Animal studies have reported reduced reproductive function and the potential for tumor formation, so caution is needed during prolonged use.
