This medication is effective for various joint conditions, including chronic polyarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It helps relieve pain and inflammation caused by arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. Additionally, it reduces painful swelling and inflammation that occur after trauma or surgery, aiding recovery. It is also used adjunctively for the treatment of infections accompanied by inflammation, pain, and fever. This medication is used to improve various inflammatory conditions and pain.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 300 mg of dexibuprofen orally 2 to 4 times daily. However, do not exceed 1200 mg of dexibuprofen in a single day.

Precautions

This medication may pose a risk of gastric bleeding in individuals who regularly consume more than 3 glasses of alcohol per day; therefore, it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist. This drug may increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, so individuals with a history of heart disease or stroke, or those with risk factors, should exercise caution and monitor for cardiovascular symptoms closely. Serious gastrointestinal issues such as gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration, or perforation may occur, particularly in the elderly or those with a history of gastrointestinal disorders; therefore, careful use is required. This medication should not be taken if there is a history of gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding, severe liver or kidney impairment, severe heart failure, severe hypertension, or hypersensitivity to aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Concurrent use with aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and high doses of methotrexate may increase the risk of side effects, so it should be avoided. During treatment, it is advisable to discontinue breastfeeding or the medication itself, as dizziness or fatigue may occur, hence caution is necessary while driving or operating machinery. Individuals with blood disorders, liver impairment, kidney impairment, hypertension, heart failure, or a history of allergies should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If symptoms of shock, severe skin rash, difficulty breathing, abnormal liver function, decreased kidney function, or cardiovascular symptoms occur during treatment, the medication should be discontinued immediately and medical assistance sought. This medication should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration possible, and regular blood and liver/kidney function tests are necessary during long-term use. After the 6th month of pregnancy, this medication may pose a risk to the fetus; therefore, it should not be taken, and women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant must discuss this with a healthcare provider. In case of overdose, immediate medical attention should be sought, even if there are no symptoms, and should be stored out of reach of children in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Drug interactions

Do not take this medication together with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, aspirin, or high doses of methotrexate. Before taking this medication, avoid corticosteroids, alcohol, digoxin, phenytoin, probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, sulfonylureas, ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor antagonists, diuretics, lithium, anticoagulants of the coumarin class, baclofen, immunosuppressants, thrombolytics, ticlopidine, antiplatelet agents, and potassium in the blood.
