This medication is used for both male and female pattern hair loss. It is particularly suitable for treating these conditions at concentrations of 2%, 3%, and 5%. Since both male and female pattern hair loss are classified as androgenetic alopecia, this drug effectively promotes hair growth and helps to inhibit the progression of hair loss. Therefore, it is used for improving hair loss in both men and women.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

(Gel) After completely drying hair and scalp, apply 0.5 – 1 g of this medication twice daily (morning and evening) to the affected area for at least 4 months. Do not exceed a total daily dosage of 2 g. (Solution) After completely drying hair and scalp, apply 0.5 – 1 mL of this medication twice daily (morning and evening) to the affected area for at least 4 months for a 2% or 5% solution. Do not exceed a total daily dosage of 2 mL.

Precautions

This medication is not recommended for female patients using the 5% concentration product. It should not be used by children under 18, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, and breastfeeding women. It is not suitable for patients with cardiovascular problems such as heart conditions or blood pressure issues. Additionally, it should be avoided in cases of sudden patchy hair loss, inflammation, infection, or irritation of the scalp. Concurrent use with other scalp medications or on a shaved scalp is contraindicated. Patients with allergies or a history of hypersensitivity to specific components should exercise caution. When using this medication, avoid combining it with topical corticosteroids or retinoids, and patients taking vasodilators need to be aware of the increased risk of hypotension. Elderly patients over 55, or those with edema or thyroid dysfunction should consult a healthcare provider before use. This medication contains sodium bisulfite and propylene glycol, which may cause allergic reactions; thus, sensitive patients should use it cautiously. If you experience symptoms such as itching, rash, dermatitis, headache, dizziness, palpitations, shortness of breath, or any other unusual symptoms while using this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Particularly, this medication should not be applied to areas other than the scalp, and excessive use may lead to cardiovascular side effects. Before use, check the condition of the scalp and avoid use if there are wounds or inflammation on the skin. If a dose is forgotten, do not compensate by taking an extra dose; continue with the normal dosing schedule. This medication is ineffective for certain causes of hair loss. Excessive use can lead to serious side effects such as low blood pressure, tachycardia, and fluid retention, which require immediate medical attention, and may necessitate treatment with diuretics or sympatholytics. This medication is flammable, so do not place it near flames or heat, and keep it in a secure place out of reach of children. Also, maintain the quality of the medication by keeping it in its original container.

Drug interactions

This medication should not be used concurrently with other scalp medications, topical corticosteroids, retinoids, petrolatum, dithranol, or drugs that promote percutaneous absorption, and vasodilators such as guanethidine.

This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be stored in a container that prevents light exposure. Additionally, it is best to store the medication in a cool place, between 15 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius, which is room temperature.
