Relief of symptoms of functional dyspepsia (abdominal bloating, heartburn, nausea, etc.)
This medication helps alleviate symptoms such as abdominal bloating, upper abdominal discomfort, heartburn, belching, nausea, and vomiting associated with functional dyspepsia. It reduces discomfort in the abdomen and aids the digestive process, improving gastrointestinal symptoms such as heartburn. It also alleviates belching, nausea, and vomiting, helping to make the patient's daily life more comfortable. It effectively contributes to the treatment of functional dyspepsia by enhancing overall digestive function.
Adults: Administer 25 mg of levosulpiride orally 3 times daily before meals.
This medicine should not be used by pregnant women or nursing mothers. It may worsen the condition of patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction, or perforation due to its stimulation of gastrointestinal motility. It should be avoided in patients with specific tumors such as pheochromocytoma due to the risk of increased blood pressure. Patients with allergies or intolerances to this medication should not take it. It is also advisable not to administer it to patients with liver disease, early-stage bipolar disorder, or malignant breast disease. Caution is required when administering this medication to patients with hypertension, children, and the elderly, especially children who should be careful to avoid overdose. This medication may cause symptoms such as amenorrhea, excessive milk secretion, gynecomastia due to hormonal secretion irregularities, and if abnormal signs occur, treatment should be stopped immediately. Rarely, side effects related to movement, such as tremors, tongue twisting, and anxiety may occur; if these symptoms arise, discontinue the medication. Long-term use may lead to involuntary movements around the face, which may persist even after discontinuation. Gastrointestinal side effects may include dry mouth, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Cardiovascular side effects may include hypertension or arrhythmias, requiring caution. In severe cases, potentially life-threatening symptoms of neuroleptic malignant syndrome may occur, so if high fever, muscle rigidity, or altered consciousness occurs, immediate medical attention is necessary. Rare allergic reactions, such as rashes or swelling, may also occur; if these symptoms arise, discontinue use. It is advisable to avoid activities requiring concentration, such as driving or operating machinery, while taking this medication. Unexpected side effects may occur when used in conjunction with other drugs, so consultation with an expert is necessary. Caution is particularly needed if taken with medications that can affect heart rhythm, as this may increase the risk of arrhythmias. Pregnant or nursing women should not take this medication, as safety for the fetus or neonate has not been established. For the elderly, as renal function may decline causing the drug to remain in the body longer, close attention should be paid to dose adjustment and side effect monitoring. This medication has a vomiting-suppressing action, which can mask vomiting caused by other reasons, thus conditions should be carefully monitored during use. Animal studies have reported reproductive function impairment and potential tumor occurrence, warranting caution during long-term use.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication may be sensitive to air or moisture, so it should be stored in a tightly sealed container. It is advisable to maintain a storage temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature. This will help to preserve the effectiveness and safety of the medication for a long time.
