Topical treatment for acne including comedones and papules
This medication is used for the topical treatment of acne such as comedones, papules, and pustules in patients over the age of 12.
After thoroughly washing and drying the affected area, apply a thin layer to the acne areas at night once daily, avoiding the eyes, lips, mucous membranes, and surrounding areas of the nose. If skin irritation occurs, reduce the application frequency (e.g., once every two days) or discontinue treatment. Once the irritation subsides, the application frequency may be increased or treatment restarted. Clinical improvement is expected after 4 to 8 weeks of treatment, with further improvement possible after 3 months.
This medication should not be used until complete recovery from sunburn. Individuals allergic to this medication or any of its components, women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, and areas with damaged skin or severe acne should not use this medication. Individuals allergic to propylene glycol or sensitive to sunlight should use this medication with caution. During use, skin reactions such as dryness, irritation, burning sensation, and redness may occur, and these symptoms generally improve by discontinuing treatment or reducing frequency of use. In case of severe allergic reactions or skin irritation, discontinue use or reduce application frequency, and avoid exposure to sunlight or artificial UV light. Increasing the amount used does not produce results faster or improve effectiveness, so the prescribed dosage must be followed. After using other exfoliating treatments, this medication should only be used once skin irritation has fully subsided. It is recommended to discontinue use when symptoms improve and avoid long-term use of this medication. Avoid hair removal through electrolysis, waxing, or chemical depilatories in the area being treated. This medication may cause some irritation to the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes; caution should be exercised during use. The risk of interaction with systemic medications is low, but it is advisable to avoid using it concurrently with other retinoid medications. It can be safely used with other topical acne treatments at different times, but should not be used with irritating cleansers or products with strong drying effects. During pregnancy, as the drug may be absorbed in small amounts through the skin, it should not be used, and it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. During breastfeeding, it is best not to apply it to the chest area to avoid exposure to the newborn. The safety for children under 12 years has not been established, so its use is not recommended. In the case of accidental ingestion, seek medical attention immediately and receive interventions, such as gastric lavage, if necessary. This medication is for external use only and should be kept away from eyes, mouth, nose, and any open wounds. Keep this medication out of the reach of children and do not transfer it to other containers. Finally, since exposure to sunlight or UV rays can worsen skin irritation during use, it is important to avoid sun exposure and use sunblock.
