Emergency detoxification effect for poisoning
This medication is used as an emergency detoxifier in cases of poisoning by drugs or chemicals. However, medicinal charcoal does not adsorb certain toxic substances such as cyanides and has relatively poor adsorption for corrosive substances like alcohol, hydrocarbon oils, lithium salts, sodium chloride, heavy metals (iron, lead, etc.), boric acid, other inorganic acids, and petroleum distillates. Therefore, alternative detoxification measures may be necessary for these specific toxins. This drug plays an important role in the treatment of poisoning and helps facilitate patient recovery in emergency situations.
Shake well before use. To minimize gastric distension and associated vomiting, administer slowly over more than 15 minutes. The oral dosage for adults is 1 time 65-250ml (as medicinal charcoal 13-50g), and the dosage may be repeated according to a doctor's prescription. Medicinal charcoal is most effective when administered as soon as possible in cases of acute poisoning, ideally within 30 minutes after ingestion of the toxic substance.
The oral dosage for children is 1 time 65-250ml (as medicinal charcoal 13-50g).
This medication has not been sufficiently studied for its effects on pregnant or lactating women, so caution is advised during use. Foods such as ice cream or sherbet should not be taken with this medication as they may reduce the absorption capacity of its main ingredient, medicinal charcoal. When using this medication as part of oral poisoning treatment, avoid taking it together with ipecac syrup to induce vomiting. This is because ipecac syrup may adsorb this medication, hindering the vomiting process. If it is necessary to take ipecac syrup, it is recommended to take this medication after complete induction of vomiting. This medication should be administered after the procedure for removing stomach contents has been completed as directed by a doctor. Other medications may be adsorbed by this medication within 2 hours after ingestion, potentially reducing their effectiveness, so a sufficient interval should be maintained before taking other medications. It is advisable not to use this medication when a corrosive substance has been ingested, as it may mask the radiographic effects of esophageal damage. Diabetic patients should not take this medication without special instructions from a doctor. This medication may cause stools to turn black, which is a normal reaction and not a cause for concern. The sorbitol component contained in this medication may cause diarrhea in children, so caution is necessary.
