Precautions

This medication should be used with particular caution in patients with diabetes or in patients with damaged corneal endothelium. There may be a risk of corneal edema or bullous keratopathy due to irrigation or injury to the corneal endothelium, necessitating careful monitoring. Furthermore, corneal edema, corneal dysfunction, and postoperative inflammatory responses have been reported, so symptoms should be observed. As with all ophthalmic surgeries, this medication must be used precisely according to the prescribed dose and method to minimize damage to the ocular tissues. Although this medication does not contain natural rubber latex, the administering set that is used with it may contain latex, which can trigger severe allergic reactions, so patients with allergies should exercise caution. Patients with diabetes undergoing vitrectomy have exhibited changes in the lens, and careful monitoring is essential. After using this medication, corneal opacification or edema may develop, so the condition of the eye should be carefully checked post-surgery. Patients may experience temporary blurred vision post-operatively; they should avoid driving or operating machinery until their vision fully clears. There is not sufficient data on use in pregnant women; however, the components of this medication are naturally present in the eye and are expected to have no reproductive effects, as they have no pharmacological activity. Although there is no data on whether it is secreted in breast milk, it is believed to have no effect on breastfeeding infants due to the lack of pharmacological activity. This medication should only be used as an irrigation solution during ophthalmic surgery and should not be administered intravenously. Each packaging unit is designated for a single patient; any remaining contents should not be reused and should be discarded. It contains no preservatives and cannot be reused after opening; do not use if the solution appears cloudy or if it is in a vacuum state. Do not mix with other substances, as this may cause damage to ocular tissues; it should be used exclusively on its own. The container and irrigation needle must be securely assembled, and the irrigation needle must be well fixed to prevent shaking. Prior to inserting the irrigation needle into the anterior chamber of the eye, press the container to remove air, and when applying pressure to the container, withdraw the needle from the anterior chamber of the eye.
