How to take

Adult dose

Take 100 mg of iron once a day. Administer before meals, during meals, or after meals.

Child dose

Children aged 12 years and older: 50 mg per dose, twice a day. Children aged 1 year to under 12 years: 50 mg per dose, 1 to 2 times a day. Children under 1 year: iron at 1 dose.

Precautions

This medication can cause severe poisoning if taken in excess by children, so it should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children. Drug interactions

This medication should not be taken with phosphates, calcium salts, oral tetracycline antibiotics, antacids, iron-containing preparations, anti-aldosterone agents, triamterene, diphosphonic acid salts, thyroxine, cefdinir preparations, quinolones, penicillamine, cholestyramine, pancreatic extracts, vitamin E preparations, and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in doses greater than 200 mg without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

Food interactions

This medication should be avoided with tannin-containing teas, such as green tea and black tea, as well as milk and dairy products during and before and after administration.
