Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with severely reduced kidney function. If kidney function is poor, this medication can accumulate in the body and lead to excessively high magnesium levels. Additionally, this medication should not be administered to patients with severe diarrhea, as the presence of diarrhea can affect the drug's efficacy or side effects. Patients with heart function issues, those with already high magnesium levels, and elderly patients over 65 years old should be particularly cautious when using this medication, as adverse effects may occur more easily in these patients. During treatment with this medication, occasional gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea may occur. Moreover, prolonged use or high doses may result in excessively high magnesium levels in the body, so regular monitoring of the condition is necessary. If abnormal symptoms arise, appropriate measures should be taken, such as reducing the dosage of the medication or temporarily discontinuing its use. If dizziness, slowed heartbeat, strong drowsiness, confusion, shortness of breath, muscle weakness, or dry mouth occur after taking this medication, use should be discontinued immediately, and consultation with a physician or pharmacist should be sought. It is advisable to bring the medication's instruction leaflet when consulting. If magnesium overdose symptoms are suspected, potassium-containing injections may need to be administered. This medication may inhibit the absorption of certain antibiotics, particularly tetracycline class medications, so it is advisable not to take them together. Furthermore, this medication may alter the gastrointestinal environment, affecting the absorption or excretion of other drugs, hence caution is required during coadministration. Taking large amounts of this medication with milk or calcium supplements may lead to the condition known as milk-alkali syndrome, so symptoms should be closely monitored, and the medication should be discontinued if problems arise. Finally, this medication is in capsule form and is susceptible to absorbing moisture or carbon dioxide from the air, so it is important to store it in a moisture-free, sealed environment.
