This medication is used for surface anesthesia of the skin during needle insertion or superficial surgical procedures. It is also effective for surface anesthesia of the genital mucosa and can be applied prior to the removal of condylomas. When performing cleansing or superficial surgery on leg ulcer areas, it is used as a surface anesthetic to alleviate pain. In other words, it is utilized for surface anesthesia in various areas to reduce patient discomfort during treatment.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

1. Skin: Apply this drug and cover with occlusive tape. The occlusion over the application area should generally be maintained for 1-3 hours, and the effect persists for at least 1 hour after tape removal. 1) For needle insertion, apply approximately 2g of this medication for a minimum of 1 hour and a maximum of 5 hours. 2) For superficial surgical procedures, apply 1.5-2g/10㎠ for 1 hour. 3) For major superficial surgical procedures, this drug

Precautions

This drug is used as a local anesthetic and may cause methemoglobinemia, a blood anomaly. Special caution is required for patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, congenital methemoglobinemia, heart or lung diseases, infants under 6 months, and when used in conjunction with oxidizing agents. Symptoms may include a change in skin color to cyanosis or abnormal blood color, and in severe cases, seizures, coma, or arrhythmias may occur. If these symptoms arise, medication should be discontinued immediately and appropriate treatment should be administered. Furthermore, it should not be used on areas with hypersensitivity, wounds, contact dermatitis, or atopic dermatitis, and should not be administered to infants under 3 months or newborns with certain conditions. It should be used with caution in patients with anemia, liver disease, elderly, or frail patients, as well as those allergic to propylene glycol contained in this medication. Local application may cause skin pallor, redness, swelling, itching, or burning sensation, and rarely serious allergic reactions such as urticaria, angioedema, or bronchospasm may occur. This medication should not be used on the eyes or ears, and if it comes into contact with the eyes, it should be rinsed immediately with clean water. Additionally, the risk of methemoglobinemia may increase when used in conjunction with certain medications, so caution is advised when co-administering. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before use, as this drug may cross the placenta and be excreted in breast milk. In cases of overdose, central nervous system symptoms or cardiac issues may arise, necessitating immediate treatment and observation. Finally, long-term high-dose use of this medication is not recommended, especially for children and infants.
