These various formulations can be selected according to patients' conditions and conveniences. Overall, this medication is utilized to alleviate musculoskeletal pain and inflammation, improving patients' discomfort.

How to apply

Precautions

This medication should not be used by certain patients. Individuals with a history of allergy to this medication or its active ingredient piroxicam should not take it. Patients with aspirin-induced asthma or those who have experienced asthma attacks due to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should also avoid this medication. Additionally, patients who have experienced hives, rhinitis, or angioedema from aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should not take this medication. It should not be administered to children under 14 years of age. Patients with bronchial asthma should use this medication cautiously, as asthma attacks may worsen. This medication contains a component called propylene glycol, and those who are allergic or sensitive to this ingredient should exercise caution. Using this medication can cause localized itching, redness, rash, scaling, eczema, dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and erythema on the skin. Rarely, photosensitivity reactions may occur, and if these symptoms are severe, use should be immediately stopped. Long-term or excessive use can result in systemic side effects such as nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, respiratory distress, and renal function decline. Care should be taken especially in patients with renal failure or nephrotic syndrome, as there is a risk of acute interstitial nephritis. This medication does not fundamentally treat the underlying causes of inflammation or pain, but rather helps alleviate symptoms. When using it for inflammation accompanied by skin infections, appropriate antimicrobial or antifungal treatments should be used to prevent worsening of the infection while closely monitoring the condition. In chronic conditions such as degenerative arthritis, it is important to consider other treatment methods in addition to drug therapy, carefully observing the patient's condition for potential side effects. In the third trimester of pregnancy, this medication can delay childbirth and may cause serious side effects during delivery such as bleeding, neonatal hemorrhage, fetal cardiopulmonary issues, and renal function impairment, hence it must not be used. During the early and mid-stages of pregnancy, animal tests have not indicated fetal toxicity, but safety in humans is unclear, so cautious use is advised. This medication can be excreted in breast milk in small amounts, and because its effects on the infant are not clearly defined, it is preferable not to use it while breastfeeding. The safety of this medication has not yet been established in preterm infants, newborns, infants, toddlers, and children, so it is generally recommended not to administer it. Elderly patients may experience side effects more easily, so only the minimal necessary dosage should be applied, with particular attention paid to the occurrence of side effects. This medication should not be applied to areas with wounds or bleeding skin conditions, eczema, infected areas, burns, and eyes or mucous membranes. Additionally, it should not be used with occlusive dressings, and caution is necessary when applying it to areas with skin damage, as temporary irritation may occur.
