It is very important not to use this medication in certain patients. First, it should not be administered to those who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients. Additionally, patients with thyroid dysfunction, especially those with thyroid diseases such as nodular goiter or Hashimoto's thyroiditis, should avoid using it. Patients with reduced kidney function or kidney failure should also refrain from using this medication. This medication should not be given to newborns or infants under 6 months, nor should it be used by patients with herpetic dermatitis or patients undergoing radioactive iodine treatment before or after that treatment. Severely ill patients or those with a history of thyroid disease or kidney failure should be administered this medication with caution. This medication can rarely cause severe allergic reactions, so if symptoms such as difficulty breathing or hives occur, use should be immediately discontinued, and medical advice sought. Skin pain, itching, rashes may occur, and in severe cases, skin ulcers or contact dermatitis can develop. Prolonged use may delay wound healing, so usage should cease if these symptoms appear. Using large amounts may lead to electrolyte imbalances, metabolic disorders, or kidney dysfunction, so caution is needed. Additionally, long-term use of this medication may cause changes in thyroid hormone levels, thus regular monitoring of thyroid function is warranted. In cases of excessive use, discomfort or irritation in the mouth and throat may occur, and serious side effects such as difficulty breathing may also arise, so it is important to exercise caution. If this medication is used just before delivery, the newborn's eyes and skin should be thoroughly cleaned, and if symptoms do not improve, surgical intervention may need to be considered. When used on patients with extensive burns, careful monitoring of hydration, kidney function, and acid-base balance is essential. Furthermore, administering this medication before thyroid diagnostic tests can affect test results, so a gap of 1 to 2 weeks between testing and administration is advisable. Patients undergoing lithium treatment should avoid using this medication regularly, and using it in conjunction with certain antiseptics or enzyme medications may reduce its efficacy. Combination with hydrogen peroxide should also be avoided. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication extensively or for a long duration, as it may affect thyroid function in the fetus and newborn. The iodine component of this medication can be absorbed through the skin and may impact thyroid function tests. In the case of overdose, gastrointestinal disturbances, neurological symptoms, mucosal damage, and thyroid dysfunction may occur, and immediate medical attention is necessary. Care should be taken to avoid this medication getting into the eyes, and the affected area should be cleaned and disinfected before use. Do not mix it with other products, and if it comes into contact with clothing, wash immediately. Soaps may weaken the antiseptic action of this medication, so it is advisable to thoroughly remove them before use. Finally, this medication should be stored away from direct sunlight, and care should be taken when using metal containers for storage, as corrosion may occur. Be mindful that the iodine concentration in the blood may rise when used intravaginally.
