View approved original text

This medication is an absorbable hemostatic agent used to prevent localized bleeding, and is used adjunctively when other hemostatic methods are ineffective during surgery involving capillary, venous, or small artery bleeding. It helps to quickly and safely stop bleeding.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Cut into appropriate sizes and firmly attach to the bleeding area or tissue surface until hemostasis is achieved.

Precautions

This drug is a hemostatic agent used to stop bleeding and should not be used to fill spaces with packing or cotton. Particularly, it is advisable not to use it in areas of bone injury or large arterial bleeding. Additionally, it is not recommended for use in areas with non-bleeding serous fluid or for adhesion prevention. Caution is required when using in areas with a risk of increased pressure, such as around bone cavities, spine surgery sites, or the area surrounding the optic nerve, and it must be removed after hemostasis. It should also be used with caution in contaminated wounds or during urological or ENT surgeries, especially ensuring that the patient does not aspirate the product. This drug can form a coating in body fluids or cause foreign body reactions, and may induce vascular narrowing during vascular surgery, necessitating careful usage. If draining or urination is required after surgery, it may delay the discharge, necessitating observation. When used for nasal bleeding or non-surgical purposes, discomfort such as burning or sneezing may occur. It is provided in a sterile state and should not be re-sterilized. Unused products after opening should be disposed of. In precise surgical areas, it should not be used as an alternative to sutures, and should not be mixed with other medications, as combining with antibiotics or thrombin does not enhance effectiveness. This drug can remain in place if needed; however, it is safer to remove it after hemostasis. Position may shift during surgery, so it must be checked after surgery, as leaving it in the body may lead to serious nerve damage or loss of vision. Although this drug has a broad antimicrobial effect, it cannot replace systemic antimicrobials for infection prevention after surgery. During dental surgery, it should be applied loosely and should not be used to fill spaces. Additionally, using it wetted with water or saline reduces its effectiveness, so it is better to use it in a dry state. Finally, this drug should be stored away from moisture and in a dry state to enhance its hemostatic effect.
