Effectiveness of irrigation solution used during ophthalmic surgery
This medication is used as an irrigation solution (a liquid injected into the eye during surgery to protect the site and maintain tissue) for ophthalmic surgeries performed within a maximum of 60 minutes.
This formulation should be used according to the prescribed method based on the type of surgery.
This drug should be used with special caution in patients with diabetes or those with damaged corneal endothelium. Use of this drug may lead to corneal edema or bullous keratopathy due to irrigation or trauma to the corneal endothelium. In addition, reports of corneal edema, corneal functional impairment, and postoperative inflammatory responses have been observed. Like all surgical procedures, this drug should be used exactly according to the dosage and administration guidelines, minimizing damage to the cornea and other ocular tissues is essential. Although this drug itself does not contain natural rubber latex, the administration set used with it may contain natural rubber latex, which can cause severe allergic reactions, necessitating caution. In particular, in diabetic patients undergoing vitrectomy, changes in the lens have been observed during surgery, requiring careful usage. After using this drug as an irrigation solution in ophthalmic surgery, corneal opacity or edema may occur, thus it is important to minimize trauma to the ocular tissues, as with all surgical procedures. Vision may temporarily become blurry following surgery; therefore, patients should wait until their vision becomes clear before driving or operating machinery. There is insufficient data on the use of this drug in pregnant women, but the drug's components are natural substances that exist in the eye and are unlikely to affect reproduction due to lack of pharmacological activity. Additionally, there is a lack of data on whether this drug is secreted in breast milk, but because of the lack of pharmacological activity, it is also unlikely to affect newborns or infants who are breastfed. This drug is only to be used as an irrigation solution during ophthalmic surgery and should not be administered intravenously. The contents of each packaging unit should only be used for one patient, and any unused contents must be discarded. This drug contains no preservatives, so it cannot be reused once opened, and it should not be used if the solution is cloudy or if a vacuum is not maintained. Caution should be exercised as adding other substances to this drug may cause damage to ocular tissues. Do not remove the packaging until ready for use, and after removing the packaging, the inner bag should be pressed to check for leakage. If leakage is discovered, it must be discarded due to contamination risk.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This drug should be stored at room temperature between 8 degrees and 27 degrees Celsius while ensuring it does not get too hot. It is also important to store it in a container with a well-sealing lid to prevent air ingress.
