This medication is used to relieve symptoms such as painful muscle spasms accompanying musculoskeletal disorders, for example, frozen shoulder syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder, and low back pain. It also aids in the treatment of sequelae from various central nervous system diseases, such as spastic paralysis due to neurological disorders, cerebrovascular diseases, spastic spinal paralysis, spinal cord injuries, and cerebral palsy. This drug effectively relaxes muscle tension and reduces pain, thereby improving the quality of life of patients. It is mainly used for various neuro-muscular diseases accompanied by muscle spasms and rigidity.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer orally as 50 mg three times a day after meals as hydrochloride of eperisone. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. First, patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or have severe muscle weakness due to myasthenia gravis should not take it. Additionally, patients with genetic diseases who cannot break down lactose due to the presence of lactose in this medication should avoid taking it. Those allergic to soybean oil, soy, or peanuts should also avoid this medication. This medication should be used cautiously in some patients. Patients with a history of drug allergies or poor liver function need to be careful when using this drug. Patients with issues in fat metabolism, hyperlipidemia, diabetic dyslipidemia, or pancreatitis should also be cautiously administered. This medication can rarely cause serious side effects. For instance, shock reactions may occur, so if any symptoms arise, the administration should be stopped immediately, and treatment should be provided. Blood abnormalities such as liver dysfunction, kidney dysfunction, and anemia can also occur, so regular monitoring of the condition is necessary. Skin rash, itching, insomnia, drowsiness, headaches, digestive disturbances, urinary problems, weakness, dizziness, and other symptoms may also manifest. Moreover, serious skin disorders like Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, so if symptoms such as fever, skin rash, blisters, eye redness, or oral inflammation appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and a doctor should be consulted. Drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur while taking this medication, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Patients with metabolic issues should regularly check their blood lipid levels and adjust the medication dosage as necessary. This medication may cause side effects when used with certain other muscle relaxants, so patients taking other medications should consult with their physician or pharmacist. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established.
