Inhibition of SGPT elevation in chronic persistent hepatitis

  • Chronic persistent hepatitis
View approved original text

Chronic persistent hepatitis refers to a condition where SGPT levels are continuously elevated in liver function tests. This disease is characterized by sustained inflammation of the liver leading to liver cell damage. Patients require treatment to maintain liver health and alleviate inflammation, which can aid in the recovery of liver function. Additionally, improvements in lifestyle and appropriate medication can slow the progression of hepatitis and protect liver function. This medication is used to improve liver function abnormalities in chronic persistent hepatitis.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients with complete biliary obstruction. Additionally, as this medication contains lactose, it should not be used in patients with genetic conditions such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Caution is advised when administering this medication to patients with chronic active hepatitis, cirrhosis, hypokalemia, severe pancreatic disease, peptic ulcers, or cholelithiasis. When taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, heartburn, and upper gastrointestinal discomfort may occasionally occur. Hypersensitivity reactions such as itching or rash may rarely occur, and these symptoms generally resolve with the use of antihistamines. Transient jaundice may appear, but symptoms will disappear with the discontinuation of the medication or the use of jaundice treatment agents. Rarely, symptoms such as general malaise or dizziness may occur. In a study involving 640 chronic persistent hepatitis patients over 6 years, adverse drug reactions were found to be very low; however, significant side effects have been reported in patients with cirrhosis, ascites, or acute hepatitis C, so caution is needed. It is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage and administration, and if symptoms do not improve or abnormal symptoms appear after a maximum of 8 weeks of treatment, the medication should be discontinued and a doctor or pharmacist consulted. Keep out of reach of children. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant are advised not to use this medication, as harmful effects on the fetus have been reported in animal studies. When taken with oral hypoglycemic agents, the effect of the diabetes medication may be increased, so careful monitoring is necessary when using them together.
