Efficacy & effects

This medication is used to relieve pain caused by idiopathic Parkinson's disease, other forms of Parkinson's disease (post-encephalitic, arteriosclerotic), and skeletal muscle spasms.

Dosage

Oral: 50 mg of oleprodeine hydrochloride is taken orally three times a day. Injection: 80-120 mg (4-6 mL) of oleprodeine hydrochloride is administered by intramuscular injection daily.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with glaucoma. Patients with obstruction of the stomach or duodenum should also not take this medication. Administration should be avoided in cases of constrictive peptic ulcers. Patients with prostatic hypertrophy or bladder neck obstruction should not use this medication either. It is also not administered to patients with esophageal spasm or megaesophagus symptoms. This medication is unsuitable for patients with myasthenia gravis. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication should not take it. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so it should not be administered to patients with genetic problems such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients with tachycardia or cardiovascular diseases, and those with liver or kidney function issues should use this medication with caution. Symptoms such as dry mouth, palpitations, constipation, urinary disturbances, and blurred vision may occur when taking this medication. Additionally, side effects like nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, headache, dizziness, and skin rashes can occur. If these symptoms appear, reducing the dose or discontinuing the medication will alleviate the symptoms. In some patients, dependence on this medication may develop, so it is important not to suddenly stop taking it. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this medication only when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety is not well established. Furthermore, the safety in children and infants has not been sufficiently confirmed, so it should only be administered cautiously when absolutely necessary.
